Our opinion of the SpinPoint T166 is very high right now and unlike previous Samsung offerings we think this latest series delivers a near perfect combination of performance, quiet operation, thermal management, and price. In terms of pure performance, the Hitachi 500GB drive might be slightly faster, but in practical use it is extremely unlikely anyone would notice the difference in performance. Noise levels on the other hand definitely favor the Samsung T166 drives, and we really see no reason to spend $30 more to get the Hitachi drive. If you are looking for a hard drive in this capacity range then the Samsung HD501LJ should be at the top of your list.

Unde-i linku'? Păi asta aş vrea şi eu să ştiu...
Ar mai fi CinemaStar 7K1000, pentru video devices, mai silenţios, probabil la acelaşi nivel cu modelul Deskstar cu AAM on, dar la 14-15ms, nu 18-19... dar să nu divagăm.
Deocamdată toate testele sunt făcute pe modelul Deskstar (culmea, la Seagate e exact invers, toate sunt cu ES.2 şi nu găseşti niciunul cu 7200.11 ). În afară de timpul de acces o idee mai bun la Ultrastar, desigur firmware-ul e diferit, de aici rezultând un comportament diferit în aplicaţii. Cât de diferit? "Asta aş vrea şi eu să ştiu" #2. Aş mai da cu presupusul că Ultrastar nu suportă AAM. Sper să n-aibă prostii gen TLER...
Ce mă tot agit atâta cu modelul Ultrastar? Păi ia mai daţi o dată click pe link-ul de mai sus... Nu, nimic? Hm. Ok, hint: mie nu-mi trebuie 1TB. Ba chiar, nu-mi trebuie nici 750GB... Ei?
De fapt, n-ar trebui s-aştept review la A7K1000, ci la Samsung F1 (... #3). Da, au apărut, dar încă n-au apărut-apărut.

Deci are 1 platan (cel puţin modelul testat ). Clearly a winner. Dar din ce-am mai citit despre toată tevatura cu modelele F1, se pare că Samsung au ceva probleme cu ele, multe RMA (mă refer la modelele existente pe piaţă, mai ales cel de 1GB) so I guess, we'll just see, won't we?

Pe forumul SPCR au ajuns la concluzia că HUTIL (utilitarul Samsung de testare a HDD-urilor) raportează greşit un anumit tip de probleme pe modelul de 1TB şi de aici rata mare de RMA. În mod normal ar trebui să apară o versiune nouă care să suporte noile modele.

Cu ajutorul www.perfectpc.ro am pus mana pe urmatoare:
- Samsung HD501LJ – 500GB
- Western Digital WD6400AAKS – 640GB
- RAID0 2*Western Digital Raptor 150ADFD - 150GB

Cine vrea capacitati mai mici, poate alege varianta cu un singur platan si jumatate din capacitate. Performantele se vor pastra in mare parte.

Am ales practic reprezentatul (considerat cel mai rapid si silentios) fostei generatii de 250GB per platan, actualul reprezentant al generatiei de 320GB si combinatia cea mai performanta pe care o poti cumpara fara sa ajungi la sume de bani cu adevarat aberante (costul unui RAID din doar doua Raptoare este oricum exagerat si chiar nejustificat).

Voi face de-ndata un mic test comparativ cu perfomanta acestora cat si nivelul lor de zgomot si caldura.

Nu cred ca avem pe aici useri XtremPC care sa aiba nevoie sa saliveze la poze cu produsele in sine. Nu cred ca-si au rostul nici discutiile despre pret, avand in vedere ca ele se modifica de la o zi la alta si in plus, cred ca cine vrea sa stie mai multe despre un produs in sine, va cauta pe siteul producatorului numarul de platane, capete, dimensiuni, etc.
Sa trecem la teste, ce au fost realizate pe o platforma Intel P35, CPU Q6600, 4GB RAM ruland pe Windows XP SP3.

Am inceput testul comparativ cu HDTunePRO 3.0. Imaginile vorbesc de la sine, daca sunt necesare explicatii, va rog spuneti. Urmeaza apoi PcMark05.


Despre temperatura cat si despre zgomot, cam greu de vorbit. RAID-ul de Raptor produce per total mai multa caldura si mai mult zgomot. Este si normal, e vorba de un total de 4 platane la 10kRPM. Dar luate fiecare in parte, pot spune ca in Idle, sunt greu de deosebit ca si nivel de zgomot. Raptor suna mai tare dar mai putin pronuntat decat Samsung ceea ce pentru mine este mai placut, il sesizez mai greu atunci cand nu sunt atent in mod special la ele. WD AAKS parca e tot pe acolo ca si Samsung. Diferenta vine in random seek unde Raptor mitraliaza ca o vibratie slaba de telefon mobil.
Din punct de vedere al temperaturilor, degetometric, un Raptor este mai cald decat un Samsung care este mai cald decat un WD AAKS. Diferentele sunt totusi foarte mici (in special intre ultimile doua).

Din ce-am citit, unii zic de WD6400AAKS că ar cârâi în seek peste HD501LJ.
O rugăminte, poţi face şi un test cu 2 instanţe HD_Speed? Aici ar zice să setezi diferit poziţia şi să foloseşti 256KB Block Size...
