XFX 9800GTX Plus Black Edition Review @ motherboards.org

The new XFX 9800GTX+ Black Edition is probably one of if not, the fastest 9800GTX+ card on the market at the moment, and paired in an SLI configuration they are smoking fast, even faster than a standard GTX280 oddly enough. Add the fact the card comes with a full retail edition of Far Cry 2 only sweetens the pot on buying this card. The game alone cost $49.00 at some retail stores, which is you calculate into the price makes the card about $179.00, ad in the rebate and the price is even better. Almost all NVIDIA cards are made from the same place as fabrication plants for these cards are a small amount of companies so the company you buy from is a very important factor. XFX offers excellent warranty programs and solid customer service as well as being responsive to email and phone support. The card in single mode is fast; in SLI mode it's faster than just about anything you can get your hands on without custom modifications to the cards themselves. This is a solid Editors Choice product from NVIDIA and the folks at XFX. Good job on revamping and renewing an older card, it's extended its end of life by a few months at least.

XFX GeForce GTX 260 (Core 216) Black Edition 896MB video card review @ elitebastards.com

[...], you can always rely on XFX to look at NVIDIA's reference clocks for any given SKU, laugh in their general direction, scrap those clock speeds and go with something much, much faster while still employing the reference cooling solution. This is exactly what's happened here via the GeForce GTX 260 Black Edition, which employs some decent clock speed increases to both core and memory to put it some way above both a reference GeForce GTX 260 and (more often than not) AMD's Radeon HD 4870 1GB.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Core 192 versus Core 216 performance analysis @ elitebastards.com

I'm pretty sure that we could win an award for the most blatantly obvious article conclusion ever if we simply noted here that "the GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 is faster than its predecessor with just 192 Stream Processors", although in fairness that conclusion is (of course) entirely true.

Lucid’s Hydra Unleashed
Last year Lucidlogix came to us with a rather amazing claim: we can do multi-GPU better than the guys who make the video cards in the first place. Through their Hydra technology, Lucid could intercept OpenGL and DirectX API calls, redistribute objects to multiple video cards, and then combine the results in to a single video frame. This could be done with dissimilar cards from the same company, even different companies altogether. It would be multi-GPU rendering, but not as you currently know it.

PCIe scaling analysis @ Tom's.

Cat despre drivere... sunt abia in "stadiul copilariei".

Power Consumption of Contemporary Graphics Accelerators: Spring 2010

@XBit.
Excelenta trecere in revista.

A Look At Triple-GPU Performance And Multi-GPU Scaling, Part 1 @ anandtech.com

Overall the gains for SLI or Crossfire in a dual-GPU configuration are very good, which fits well with the fact that most users will never have more than 2 GPUs. Scaling is heavily game dependent, but on average it’s good enough that you’re getting your money’s worth from a second video card. Just don’t expect perfect scaling in more than a handful of games.

As for triple-GPU setups, the gains are decent, but on average it’s not nearly as good. A lot of this has to do with the fact that some games simply don’t scale beyond 2 GPUs at all – Civilization V always comes out as a loss, and the GPU-heavy Metro 2033 only makes limited gains at best.

Va urma.
